Company

Built from the inside of construction.

efficiently has been building the systems that run construction supply, design and building since 2015. The intelligence came later. The foundation came first.

History

  1. 2015

    Founded to serve construction.

efficiently was founded in 2015 as a software and services company for the construction industry, by Steve Taylor, an operator with three decades in technology and construction. The first job was practical. Our sister company Earth Elements is a high end construction supply business supplying appliances, cabinetry, doors and hardware, lighting, plumbing, slab fabrication, tile and wood flooring, with three design showrooms: Big Sky, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Park City, Utah. None of the available ERP systems could run the business, so we built our own.

  2. 2017

efficiently Supply. The ERP that runs Earth Elements.

That system is the ERP Earth Elements still runs on today: sales, quoting, orders, logistics, warehousing, finance, across every division and every showroom. It has processed close to a billion dollars in orders. It is not a demo. It is the operating system of a supply company serving $2M to $50M residential projects across the Mountain West and the Caribbean.

  3. 2019

efficiently Design. The record of what's being built.

We then moved upstream. Designers were building client presentations in Excel, InDesign and PowerPoint, with nothing connecting the selections to the actual products. We built efficiently Design: an item schedule where every selection is a record, connected to a catalogue of more than 10 million products. The designer builds it, presents it to the client, and hands it to the general contractor as one record. Today it is the system of record for efficiently (The Vault).

  4. 2022

efficiently Build. The general contractor, and the chaos layer.

Next we turned to the general contractor. Procore and Buildertrend run what's inside the application. Most of a project happens outside it: the decision on a call, the change by email, the question on the walk. We call it the chaos layer, and most of it is communication. We built efficiently Build to run it, with artificial intelligence embedded throughout.

  5. 2023

    Clarity. Intelligence embedded.

When artificial intelligence became capable enough to do real work, we embedded it in the foundation. Clarity is the AI inside efficiently: the trained agents that read every email, attend every meeting, hear the site walk, hold the open items and keep the record. Three years building the agent framework and the domain architecture, after seven years building the record. AI without structure is faster chaos. Clarity is built into something built to last.

  6. 2026

efficiently. One system for the construction industry.

The ERP, the design record, the GC functions and the intelligence are now one thing. efficiently is one system for the construction industry, built with artificial intelligence embedded, not bolted on. It comes in three: efficiently Design for designers, efficiently Build for builders, efficiently Supply for suppliers. Same record, same intelligence, same company brain, one for each seat at the table.

The Team

An experienced team.

efficiently is a team of over 100, fifty of them in development and engineering: product engineers, product managers, the people who build and run the system. Most have been with us for many years. We build on Amazon Web Services at enterprise scale, with the security, redundancy and availability a construction company's record requires. Not a startup with a deck. A company that has run software at scale for over a decade.

Steve Taylor

efficiently was founded in 2015 by Steve Taylor, an operator who has spent more than three decades building businesses in technology and construction.

Steve built Earth Elements with his partner Ben Jones, who runs it. Earth Elements is a high end construction supply group operating across nine divisions in the United States and the Caribbean. efficiently built the ERP that still runs it, a system that has processed close to a billion dollars in orders.

Steve has lived at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana for fifteen years. He is deeply connected across the luxury construction industry, among the builders, architects, developers, and owner’s representatives who define the top end of the market.

We started building the system of record years before AI was capable enough to be useful. When it was, the intelligence layer went on top of a foundation already built to last. AI without structure is just faster chaos.
