Designer Series

Designer - Owned
Tools for Design Intent

The Designer Series provides designers with structured tools for creating, organizing, and
communicating design intent on projects they own. These tools are not systems of record and
do not include governance or Design Intent Administration (DIA).

Two Contexts. One Language.

Design intent lives longer than any phase of a project. The Designer Series is built so intent created
during design can move into construction without being lost, re‑interpreted, or recreated.

Designers use efficiently in two distinct contexts:

GC-Controlled Projects

Designer Participation (Invited, No Cost)
When a general contractor engages efficiently:

On these projects, designers do not purchase or manage software. They contribute design intent; DIA governs it.

Designers use the same Design Pro (Free Access) authoring environment to create and maintain design intent – with governance and approvals handled by the GC and DIA.

Designer-Owned Projects

Designer Series Tools
When designers create and own their own projects – outside of GC‑controlled DIA – the Designer Series provides structured tools to support design administration. These tools help designers:
Designer‑Owned Tools are optional, non‑governed, and fully controlled by the designer.

If a GC Joins Later

Design work created in the Designer Series is not lost.
If a general contractor later adopts efficiently:

No rework. No restarting. No duplicate effort.

Clear Boundaries (By Design)

Does not:

Governance only exists when DIA is active.

Key Takeaway

Designers use one set of tools.
Governance depends on who owns the project.
